Hen vomiting now, help please?

Green poo can be from not eating very much. It can also be from worms or coccidiosis... maybe other things, too. I'm not familiar with the description of the undigested things in the poo, but Diana has a whole page on "poo-ology." Let me see if I can find that link for you.

karri-
what you are describing is exactly what Penny was like on day 2 of our treatment. There was not any solid mass left in the crop, just the squishy gassiness. I think you are right on track about the Candida, just from my research and single experience. Penny had the same poop when she hadn't been eating much: just clear water with what looked like dark green undigested food. It freaked me out.

If it were me--- and this is not scientific, just my gut feeling--- I would continue to try to get her to eat things that are good for her and that are good for the yeast/thrush/sour crop treatment. And watch the poop. My guess is that it'll get better as she eats. I found that Penny would poop some scarier looking ones and then a more normal one, off-and-on over the course of several days as she got better.

if it helps: Penny seems perfectly fine now. No impacted crop, no squishiness, normal poop, and gaining weight back quickly. Mind you, she did NOT have full-blown thrush like your girl, and her gassy-squishy crop seemed to be a reaction to the original impacted crop and cleared up over a few days.....

Also should point out that she lost weight at a FRIGHTENING rate when she wasn't absorbing the food. So if it were me, I'd try to get her to eat easily-digestible things that won't aggravate the yeasts (like no bread or sugar or fruit, etc.) Maybe just mushy/watery chicken feed and yogurt?

Oh- and are you sure that your yogurt is a live-culture one? And NO sugar, fruit, or sweeteners, in it either. For yeast problems, it must be plain, live-culture (and the more cultures the better) Stonyfield Farms organic is a widely-available brand that would be ideal.

Good luck- keep us updated.

THanks for the reassurance!!!

I am using yogurt with live cultures, my store only had Dannon though:-( It is plain with zero fruit or sugar. Does oatmeal have yeats in it? Thta's probably a stupid question but who knows. I am using that b/c Diana said that it is supposed to really help in digestion so..it makes sense to me. As long as it has NO yeast in it! I think I ma going to go double check right now.

SHe has had three poos of the green and watery stuff. I did giv eher more food twice now b/c her crop is staying small and isn't blowing up lik eit was. YEAH!!!!!! Her last watery, green, poo did have some brown slosh in it more like diarhea. I am going to check th epoo-ology site and see if thi sis a good thing.
THANKS SO MUCH YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!

are you keeping up the massage?
Acidifying the water with a bit of ACV (applecider vinegar...altho the natural one is preferred, you can also use the plain ole one you find in the grocery store if you are unable to get the organic ACV... the main thing is that it acidifies the water) if you do not have a pH strip to test the water just put a couple drops in her waterer (do not put anything else in the water with it... if you normally put your vitamins in the waterer you can mix them in with a tablespoon of cooked ~in water~ oatmeal and then mix that into her feed)... don't overdo the protein/meat...
If you can get to a vet for a med called nystatin, this is what is advised for prolonged gassiness in the crop (suspected yeast)...

Hey Karri, that sounds good. keep it up. As dlhunicorn said, continue with the massage, too. Penny had weird, worrisome poos off and on for many, many days, so hang in there. Are you also feeding mushy chicken feed? it may be that the poop doesn't get back to looking totally normal like the other chickens' until she's on a normal diet. maybe if she's eating and the gassiness is down you can start adding some of the regular stuff (soaked) back into her diet along with the ACV water and yogurt?

If you send me your address I will put a bit of Avia Charge 2000 in a baggie and send it to you right away. Let me know before 9:30 when the postman comes!

Thanks y'all! Here's what's going on so far:

-crop is SOOOOO much smaller, it is even emptying out all of the way!
-I am feeding her the mixture (cow liver, acv, oatmeal, vitamins, yogurt, mushed layer pellets, and now some whole pellets). I make a big ole pot of oatmeal and mix one slice of liver into it. I give it to all of my chickens outside too. The whole pot lasts one day. I am telling you this b/c I don't think that's too much protein but since I am not as experienced as y'all I want to know what you think. By the way, they all love the mixture and I think I'm going to give them some every day! It should help keep yeasties from forming in the future I think.
-She still has sulmet in her water. Once again, I am keeping that up b/c I read that sulmet and copper helps with candida.
-She is returning to normal poo. It just has a lot of water in it which I think is from all of the water she is drinking and the extra water in her food. Who knows???
-She layed an egg yesterday:) That was a surpsrise!

So it seems like she is getting better. YEAH!!!!!!! I am going to keep her inside for at least 10 days though b/c she relapsed last time. Probably b/c I didn't finish treating her:-( We are on day 3. If she processes the small ammounts of whole pellets than I will slowly add more whole food but still give her "the mixture."

Stacey, that is so sweet of you! I think thta the vitamins I got the other day will hold me out until I can talk my husband into coming off somemore money. But that is sooo sweet!

Y'all let me know what you think:)

I'm happy to share. It's a big jar! Really--- I am very happy to pop a bit in the mail for you. You can PM or email me your address if you'd like some.
So glad to hear she's improving!

Update:
-I thought she was getting better?!?!!?!?!?!? Apparently she's not. I don't understand! I began feeding her more pellets in her "mixture" yesterday.
-she was fine except this morning her crop is all bloated again. It's not as big as it has been in the past but I suspect that is b/c I'm not letting her eat as much.
-I fed her with a tinge extra acv and a lot of extra yogurt:-( It seems as though she is losing a bit of weight, not a noticable ammount though
-she is pooping a lot but it's mostly water. Is this b/c I ma giving her mushy feed that has tons more water in it? Or is this a symptom of her gut? If you know the answer to that please tell me. Other than the extra water it is returning to a normal color and it has a normal ammount of the white stuff on it. I think this is a good sign.
-other than the pellets the only thing I can think of that changed yesterday was that I didn't add the sulmet to her water b/c she was better and she had been on it for 4 days so I though she needed vitamins more than the sulmet. I cleaned out her water and added vitamin water instead. I was just so worried that she wasn't getting enough nutrients. Now that I think about it that might could have caused her to "blow up" a bit agian maybe????
Anyhow I wish that she woul djust get better like your Penelope seachick!!!! How long was Penelope sick?

P.s. I hope everyone had a nice thanksgiving:)
