Hen walking in circles

Let us know if the prednisone helps. I hope you will see some improvement. I believe prednisone is not to be used very long, and the dosage should be gradually decreased before stopping it.

My vet thinks she has an inner ear infection due to the way she leans to one side, he gave me albon to use for a few days ,said it wont hurt her if it doesn't work but he wanted to rule it out first as he doesn't like giving pred for a lot of stuff.. If the albon doesn't show an improvement in a few days he will give me liquid prednisone so i can put it in her food. I took two videos of her tonight eating and she is improving very tiny steps.. She is down to 2.7 lbs. she really loves the kaytee baby bird food, i mix all her meds in it and she eats it all. I couldn't get the poly stuff as tonight cost me $80 and i am wiped out until payday. I wasn't expecting a sick chicken and all the vitamins etc put a dent in my checkbook.. Once i get paid I'll get the poly stuff too

The Albon is sulfadimethoxine, a sulfa antibiotic, and it works to treat many types of infections, including ear infections. You really have the best vitamins to use already with both poultry vitamin powder and Nutridrench--PolyVisol is just vitamins, too, but it is for human babies, and the others are more accurately dosed for chickens, so I wouldn't waste money on them. Nutradrench also contains the selenium for the wry neck.

She looks a hair better but is now not eating as much. She is now fighting me and when she is done eating she pitches a fit and walks away backward. The albon has three more days to work then i am going to try the prednisone

She is 2.7 lbs, she actually did gain a bit since I've been hand feeding her, she isnt eating a lot but she also isn't moving around. She is now standing more, so that's a good sign she is getting her strength back. Her crop its hard to tell she is boney , it feels the same to me. I put her crumble in a makeshift feeder in case she tried to eat on her own and tonight she actually tried( failed but tried) i just uploade two video to YouTube if you look there find mebully 21 thats where i have the videos

These were from tonight, she is a little but better then last week

I hope theAlbon helps her. I haven't heard of ear infections causing wry neck, but anything causing inflammation in the brain can cause it. It is such a strange problem, sometimes lasting for weeks. Hopefully she will get better soon.
