hen walking side-ways, please help!

Well Roxy treid to get on the roost tonight with her sister, but that didn't work out so well. So instead I ended up putting her on the roost. It seems like she got drunk or something, she was very disoriented today

. I'll check in on her in the morning.

The "bits" in her droppings, is it possible its her intestines? Chickens (very strangely in my opinion, though no doubt theres a logical reason) shed their intestinal lining from time to time. It'd best be described by me as looking like bits of tomato skin?

As for the walking, i'm stumped. Without being patronising, is there any physical defect you can detect? Any swellings or "broken" looking bits?

If not, only thing I could think of would be illness, as in perhaps she's having dizzy spells or something?

Sorry I can't be of more help

Thank you !
I've also heard about them shedding their intestinal lining. I'll look for more of it tomorrow. I just read that sometimes they act drunk when they are not getting enough protein during a hard molt. Tomorrow I plan on giving her some chick starter and scrambled egg + some vitimins in their water.
Thanks again

I had a chicken who had wry neck (vitamin deficiency) who walked in circles. Sadly, he passed away (though I'm sure it wasn't from this). My Delaware hen is molting pretty severely right now. She's extra grouchy.. She picks on everyone for no reason and looks generally ill. I know it's just the molt. Only ill in the way of looking dull and bored..

I hope your girl is okay!

First , there is a poop site to compare her droppings to.

Second , it most likely is an ear infection. Check for mites and worms. I would treat her with Exprinex (ivomec) it's a cattel wormer you put on the back of the shoulders, just like Avantage for dogs.

I wish you the best,

Rancher

I found that those heavy molting episodes take alot of energy out of a bird;, no appetite, thin, keeps their distance from the flock, and very important-makes resistance to illness very low.

If she is molting that much, I hope you are providing heat for her. I would also put her on a vitamin/electrolyte supplement for poultry, not polyvisol. Most of the time they need the B vitamins , like Thiamine.

Make her a chicken feed mash with some flavoring, like maybe a bit of jam. She needs to eat and drink.

thank you everyone!
should I take her and her sis inside for a few nights? Roxy lost all her feathers in about four days and is growing them all back pretty quickly (I'm guessing that the cold has something to do with her growing them in so quickly) so I'm guessing that she is lacking some protein...... are there any other signs of an ear infection? and how soon does in need to be treated? I was planning on getting two more chickens this weeekend, then would be my first availible time to take a trip to the feed store, and now i'm thinking I should probably hold off on that........
