Hen with Egg in Abdomen Area- But still acting normal

What happened with your hen? I have a hen with a similar presentation- seems totally fine, acting normally, but I can feel an egg in the abdomen for over a week now. Did all the eggbound treatments with no change. Eating and pooping normally. Planning to go to the vet this week.

Hi there,

A year later almost and she is still with us, gets bumblefoot often, and went to the vet recently and she said that she feels fat, but no eggs or fluid. She is slower than the others and sits a lot. She doesn't roost at night and sleeps in the nest box. I don't know if she was ever 100% healthy or destined to have a healthy life. My husband and I just observe and keep her comfortable. For now she eats, poops, drinks wakes up in the morning and goes to bed at night. She has a good quality of life and no one can find anything wrong with her, but we never did an x ray. We continue to monitor her. Please keep me posted with progress on your hen and what the vet says!

I also want to add that she was given a "clean bill of health" two weeks ago- so whatever is in her abdomen doesn't seem to hurt her, just slows her down and she doesn't really lay eggs anymore. We are okay with that! She also comes running for treats- so all in all not a bad life in the coop of luxury with her 5 sisters!

Hi Everyone :frow

Just wanted to update this post that Gladys went peacefully up to the big chicken coop in the sky this morning. She had a tumor the size of a grapefruit by the time all was said and done. She lived a wonderful life alongside her sisters and was a super chicken that she could live well past the age of 2 with a tumor (probably this whole time) She was sweet and quiet and very smart. We will miss her very much- but just wanted to let everyone know should they be experiencing anything similar with a hen.

RIP Glady- You really were the best :)
