Songster
Here in maine this past week its been below zero every night. I dont use lights or heat but one of my hens got s frozen hard poop covered vent last night. Shes been inside since 7am this morning ive soaked and washed the vent with a wash cloth and little tub off an on all day. I just now got the big chunk off that was hanging i tried to take a good pic but you get the idea of a hard crusty poop i hope thats all it is. Im not sure if she got frostbite on the vent or what but her vent is mess. The smell is nasty i have to plug my nose whole cleanong. She lets me wash her no problem. Has anyone esle experienced this in the winter? What should i do? Some skin did get pulled an i had to cut feathers that were stuck. there is still like poop all caked on the inside and outyer hole on the vent. There is still poop passing threw But small. She seems fine and eating fine at the time i found her like this. so far shes only had water since then. But doesnt seem to be in pain or when im cleaning her. What do i do? Whay to puy on her? How to help gey the rest of the poop off? I dont plan on bringing her back outside anytime soon .
