Hello,
I have a light Brahma hen named Henny Penny who got attacked by a racoon on the wing a little less than a week ago. I washed it and bandaged it up (bactine and triple antibiotic ointment) I was totally unprepared material wise. Everything was going great, hen acting lively (eating, drinking and pooping) then I discovered an infection under the wing. I used penicillin, (gave the first muscular injection yesterday) she perked up a lot and the infection visibly decreased, so did the smell. I was really happy about it.
BUT...
When I was holding her today I saw two little bones sticking out of the healing wound! I must have mistaken them for pin feathers or something. Anyway, I did not expect this at all, she is doing great, and acting lively. I had the surface wound and infection under control... But now this! I don't know what to do about the bones.
BTW: is there anyway possible I can fix this without going to a vet:fl?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!🙂

I’m so sorry about the attack. If you want to save her, consider going to the vet. My concern would be that the longer you wait the harder it may be for it heal. Good luck. I hope someone on here can help you! ♥️

I'm really new at this...

Sorry, I will try for better pics tommorow
Yes, but still hard to see just where it is...and where the open wound is.

You say the bone is poking thru on the underside of the wing?
Which bone is broken?

I had a 14 week old cockerel break his wing a few weeks back. I was in tears about it and called one vet after another until I found one that would look at him. I took him in, and the vet had to amputate the wing. He's doing great now, and learning his limitations which are few now. I know it sounds silly to pay $250 for a chicken, but he's one of the family and I had just lost an older cockerel and hen to a possum attack. Please consider vet care for your lady friend.
