Two days ago, I found Rotisserie, our year-old Silver Wyandotte, with a prolapsed vent. I cleaned her up, and gently pushed the prolapse back in. Since then, there has been no improvement, and I have bathed and "repaired" her perhaps 10 times. She is now separated, in the dark, off layer feed (although she laid today). I keep her clean, apply A&D and triple antibiotic each time. So I think there is not much more I can do there. It has now been 48 hours with no improvement.
My question is: I have heard of surgery to "tighten" up the vent, but have read both good and bad short-term outcomes, and apparently prolapse is likely to recur, every if she recovers this time. Any thoughts or experience with this?
