Wow!! Since you don't have pics, is there any way you would post HOW you actually went about operating on her? I can't even begin to imagine how you would start. I am sure a lot of people would be interested in the "how to" in case it is ever an option for saving their beloved chickie. Good luck. I hope she does great!!!

Well she just got another dose of antibiotics and some neosporin on the stitches, water and her first meal of oatmeal and she ate it like it was going out of style! She is pooping also which is a good sign.

Wow, absolutely amazing. I would also like to know how you operated on her.... Do you have experience with ops?

Please keep us updated and I will keep Hope in my thoughts!

Ok here's how it went, I gave her a warm bath then put her on a board with a large bucket under it put a towel over her face to calm her. When she was calm my DH slowly went through the layers of skin and fat and found out where the problem was and it was in her ovaries so we got out the mass first cleaned out the wound with warm water, went as far back where the problem was tied it off and cut the ovary out and stitched her back up.Very nerve racking!! I wouldn't suggest people trying this unless there is not any other options! Have been giving amoxicillion for infection and neosporin for the stitches. Thats it in a nut shell. My Husband is amazing!!

poor baby - Just saw this thread now.

kudos for giving it a try - she must have been an internal layer for a long time to get that distended. You did just the right thing as far as the surgery to fix it - remove the mass and the ovary, then antibiotics afterwards to ward off any infection.

Hope that 'Hope' pulls through! The surgery was no doubt painful for her, but so was having a 4lb! mass inside!
