Hen with Sour crop... Advise

Oyster shell is used as a source of Calcium. It is soluble.

Poultry grit that is used/stored in the gizzard can be purchased at the feed store, it's crushed granite. I prefer to make that available free choice just like I do oyster shell.

If you soil is rocky, your birds may find sufficient suitable grit naturally, but I still prefer to make it available.

Maybe I’m not giving them enough grit??!!! They are only 6 months old

Just put the grit in a separate container in the run or scatter it around a little. Make it free choice, they will take what they need.

@Wyorp Rock do you think I should take my hen home tomorrow and do the vaginal yeast treatment on her? And or the epsom salt water treatment too? Or is it to late?? She’s about 6 days in this sad situation. I’m so at a loss

I say as long as your hen is trying to survive and thrive help her. I mean if it helps her great, if not then you know you tried

Where is she now? You mention taking her home?

You can try treating the sour crop, it's hard to know if that's going to make a difference or not.

I sadly had to leave her overnight at the vet cause I had to work 10-5p. I’m thinking to do the yeast treatment and syringing some epsom salt to get her to move things? Or at least make epsom salt water her only water source? Thoughts? @Wyorp Rock

And to keep a good eye on her in a dog crate in my house and see how she’s doing. I’m home most of the day today

Update-
I got her back from the vet this am and her crop is almost empty! I took her home and still noticed she’s doing the gaging motion and still has a foul smell coming from her beak.
I now have her isolated in a crate with epsom salt water.
I did one dose of vaginal cream, To hopeful cure the yeast for sour crop.
She did take a few poops and they are really dark, dark green and sort of a paste like consistency. Very stinky
She’s very active in the crate and I feel guilty watching her pace. I did put a perch inside to maybe help. Any suggestions??

I would not leave the epsom salts water as her source of drinking water. That is just a method that can be used to flush the crop if it's slow moving.
Make fresh clean water available to her to drink.
It sounds like she has a crop that is soured, it's good that you area trying the vaginal cream, hopefully you will see some improvement. Keep in mind that there may be something else going on that is causing the crop issues.
