Hen with swollen wattles and neck!

Great to hear that she has mostly recovered. How many times did you give the benadryl? Have you seen any more ticks in the coop or around the chickens? I'm so glad that it didn't turn out to be any infectious disease.

I just gave it to her once. I don't like to medicate unless I have to and the there wasn't any more threat that she would suffocate...I haven't seen any more ticks, but I'm looking out for them. Not really the season for them, that's why I didn't think that was the problem at first. I guess it's always the season in florida. It's in the 70s today...

That's been my experience, that one dose of Children's Benadryl at .5ml orally is all that is needed. The dam ground nesting poisonous insects like yellow jackets and scorpions are the ones I am wary of, since chickens are always picking and scratching the ground. I'm more vigilant about getting yellow jacket traps out when the dry season comes, and I rake leaves out of their favorite dusting area.
