Thank you will use pencilI use pencil to make my eggs. I’ve used permanent marker as well but I read somewhere it isn’t safe for the chick. I think pencil is the safest.

I have one now with 2 eggs as i took out those eggs which have been dirty, but she seems to go to the nest but also will go out of it if she sees someone nearby(she won't stay) and her appearance is not like what i usually see with broody which is supposed to be flat-like.You will know when she goes broody. She will sit on the nest and not get off it. Even if she does get off it for abit she will go right back to it and sit.
Thank you. I sure want to know what breed they are. will try to take a photo of all my chickens. Some seems to have problems with lice but due to the current weather in our place which is hot sunny yet strong drafty winds, they seem to have colds today and having health issues. Giving them vitamins since these past few days. Today the hen laid its 8th egg but i plan to bring all the possible fertile egg tomorrow to the poultry store for them to incubate. Is there a specific side on where i can mark with pencil? Or any sides will be okay and safe for the egg/unhatched chick?A broody needs a few days to go from laying to being a full time broody. The first days they are still laying more eggs and sit a few hours and leave again. When they stay on the eggs almost night and day and react nasty if you come near you have a broody. Wait 2 more days to be sure and then lay all the marked eggs you want her to breed on in the nest. Take all other and new eggs away. This way the chicks hatch within 2 days.
Are you sure there is no mite problem in the nest box? It all sounds a bit strange. And if you have a mite infestation chickens can stop laying eggs too.
Please post a few pictures of youre chickens. Maybe someone knows what breed you have.

Is it safe for me to place diatomaceous earth on the ground for the hen with chick not to have parasites? Is it effective? Please look after the health issues first, before you add any new chicks.
If you have lice you really need to do something about it.
Don’t let sick chickens sit to hatch. They might not survive it.
Yes it is safe if you mix a little DE with sand.Is it safe for me to place diatomaceous earth on the ground for the hen with chick not to have parasites? Is it effective?
Thank you. What i saw is lice. Been planning to treat them together as a whole by medicated bath, but the hen unexpectedly laid fertile eggs soon as she weaned from previous chick. Will keep watch of their health. Will try taking all eggs now and just let poultry store incubate (so that they won't be with mother hen) them so that the flock can be bathed together for their lice or parasite infestation.Yes it is safe if you mix a little DE with sand.
Did you look in the night with a torch if you have red mite? Did you look between the feathers?
If you have a red mite infestation: Do clean the coop first. Pack all the shavings/hay in a garbage bag and dispose it. Wash the coop /roost with a detergent. Let it dry and use oil or diatomaceous earth (make a paint from it for the cracks, roosts and the walls) . Put some DE mixed with sand on the bottom.
