Henny Penny's House Finished! (PIC Heavy) UPDATEs pg. 3

Cody,

They started out with 600 chicks (now pullets) and are down to 400 as of last Tuesday. From what I could see when I went to put a deposit on my 6 until our coop/run is down, they are behind the main house free ranging and the only coop I could see was about 20'x10'. The area they are in is completely littered with old farm machinery, yard waste and junk. They were looking for shade and cool dirt when I asked to see them. I felt sorry for them!

alamogirl,

I'm in the Middlebury Goshen area. I waitress at Essenhaus. I got the ckicken bug when I took care of my neighbor's chickens while they went on vacation. I've gotten my eggs from her for several years and now they moved this past week so I decided to get my own chickens!

Nice coop! My father is an engineer & I can only imagine how bad he would be if I had him build my coop. When I was younger he used to have a formula and plan to hang a picture on the wall

He's insane! Only spouses and children of engineers know how they are

I've been at Essenhaus 5 years this August. We are in our busy season now with the Shipshewana Flea market heating up!

augustmomx2: This coop is taking so long to build 'cause every decision about every cut and screw takes about 10 minutes! I think all that contemplation has taken longer than building the actual coop!!

Daughter of an engineer here, so I share the feeling!

The coop is gorgeous, but NOWHERE near big enough! Six? Probably should have room for sixty, I recognize addiction when I see it!

I don't know if I'm addicted yet but my DH thinks that between cakes and chickens, I've absolutely lost all reason!

Here is our progress thus far! Dh has Thursday and Friday off this week so I'm hoping we can wrap this up!
