Hens Eating Eggs. Help!

I had to paint my white golfballs to look more like eggs. I also found a hard rubber fake egg, very realistic, this helped. I also feed my hens as early as possible before they lay, it seems to help if they are not hungry. They have access to dry layer pellets but I soak some in water and I give them this early before laying. Good luck.

I have one if I can catch her I'll put her out in an old coop with a grenade painted like an egg! Lol

remember the show he-haw? Think I'll set her separate with some wooden eggs so she can peck all she wants then wait till it's time to get the freezer filled!

Anyone figured out how to stop the little bandits from eating the eggs? I have two hens who do it. One is very small hen and she will pace back and forth in front of the coop when i close the door.otherwise if any hen is laying she will get in the nesting box with her and let the other hen peck at her till blod flows. She will eat eggs right from under the other hen. Its crazy. The other hen just waits till she has to lay egg and eats it. I am at loss here i have 32 hens. 21 small hens and 10 big ones. I useto get at least9 eggs a day and now i get extra 3 from the new ones. But since my two crazy hens started to do this i get two eggs a day. The other hens either dont lay or eggs get ate.its getting on my nerves i dont know what to do anymore.

What are you feeding?

Layer feed, oystershell, scratch and corn as treat and they free range on one acre around the house. We have 60 acres in the middle of the woods so plenty of bugs grass and my flowers lol

Layer feed has just barely enough protein to support egg production, and is formulated to be the primary food source. Scratch and corn will reduce the overall protein intake, as will filling up on grass and seeds. Your lack of eggs and the egg eating is most likely due to inadequate protein intake. Layer feed is for actively laying birds only. The high calcium content can be fatal to birds that aren't producing eggs.
Switch to a higher protein feed, at least 20% protein content, and stop giving scratch and corn.

Ive never had any trouble before until these two started particularly the small one.she doesnt lay because of a birth defect. The other hens were ok all winter. Until now.

I got it specially for our duck who is about to start laying.but they all like it so everyone is getting it. I am thinking because they free range more now they dont eat as much feed. So they lay less or the other hens are hiding eggs somewhere. Which happened before.all the other hens know my little one is after their eggs.they truly dont like her . she is always alone but she seems to like it that way. She isnt on the bottom of the P.O. but shr is an outcast of sorts. She was hatched right after a power outage and both legs were turned inside. I fixed one leg but the other is still od shaped
