I went to go get a egg from our Barred plymouth rock (Gloria) and i picked it up and it feels like a water balloon or a peice of jello! The egg shell is flexible.
What is this?

Don't worry, "Jello" eggs are pretty common for pullets still working out the egg-laying process. There's nothing wrong with your hen. She should start laying hard-shelled eggs very soon

No, Gloria is not a pullet. She is at least 2 years old. I don't know for sure because she is a rescue chicken.

She has been laying hard eggs for months. She just layed one yesterday that was hard.

If you are already providing calcium supplement, it might be that she is about done. I also have a 3-year-old Production Red going through the same. She now lays sporadically and "soft shell" half of the time.

I have oyster shells that I have fed her as long as i've had her... but i think the problem is that I refilled their fooddish a few days ago and forgot to put some in. I'll go do that right now.... hopefully thats the problem
