Well it has now been one month since the first egg and we still are only getting one egg per day from the 5 hens. And still not every day.
Still not certain if it is only one hen laying or different ones due to eggs being in different nest boxes each time.
Now here is my question. I noticed from time to time that the hen FIGHT! I know they are OEG/Wheaton mix, is this a characteristic of the OEG that makes them get "snippy" with each other? Will this cause them to not lay properly.
We have already come to the conclusion that this breed unfortunately are not going to be good layers (few eggs and very tiny). Have decided to work on getting some barred Plymouth rock and some RIR's soon!
I just keep reminding my self that they were given to us free and we did end up with a very beautiful Rooster out of the bunch.
