Hens Hatched One Chick Yesterday...Still Have Nine Eggs

Hello All,

We became chicken parents yesterday.. We have 2 broody hens sharing nine eggs, and one chick. They both seem to be doing pretty well. We have them away from the other chickens. I went to check on them, and noticed that another egg was chirping, and chipped on the side. Can the hatched chick stay, or should it be removed...do the hens need to be separated? We are new new to this..I am nervous. Thanks.

The hatched chick is doing great. It is black, and fluffy.

I don't think the hens need to be separated. I had the same thing happen to me about 2 weeks ago. what happended was one henleft the eggs to take care of the chick and the other stayed on the rest of the eggs.

Another egg hatched. Now there are two chicks.
