Hens laid a small black egg?? What does it mean?

Aloha! I have Black Australorp girls and when I went to gather eggs today I found this small black squishy egg. Photo is of the egg next to one of their normal eggs. None of the girls are showing symptoms of being sick, but one hasn’t been laying for a month and a half now. Anyone else had this happen? And also, what could this mean? I did open the egg and no this is not a joke.

No clue what it could mean.

I'd guess the one that hasn't been laying has something wrong with her if she is the one that laid this.

It looks like she may have an infection in her oviduct causing her to lay a "rotten" egg.

I haven't any knowledge to share just here to follow for curiosity. No chickens lay black eggs so this is very peculiar. I hope all is well with your girl.

Like others have said probably the one who hasn't laid in a while. That could have been stuck in there a while rotting away. Gross lol. But keep a close eye on her and see if she is laying normally again after this.
