Hens make squawking sounds?

I am new to the chicken world, and learning as I go. I currently have two polish we have had for 2 months. When we bought them they were with hens and we were told hens. They have both been very quiet, never hearing any crowing at all. We introduced to for sure hens to the flock today, and of course we are dealing with the pecking order. BUT, all of a sudden both polish "hens" made a loud sqwak at least four times. And that was it no more sound and it's been a good hour.. So my question is, are they hens, and do hens make obnoxious sqwak sounds lol. I have pictures. The feathers on their heads (crown) are poofy and rounded at the tips, and the hackle feathers are rounded also.. I am stumped. Any ideas?

Yes hens do make loud squawking sounds, especially when they see something they don't like or are laying eggs

Can you post profile shots showing hackle (neck) and saddle (back) feathers. Crest on first bird looks feminine, but that is no guarantee - need profile shots.

First tail is the first one in the pictures posted of the chickens and second is second chicken lol
