She may be headed towards being broody too. I am sure the shelless egg was a fluke - sometimes their inner workings go caddywampus on them. That is how we get fart eggs too. Keep us updated please.

My BO's stopped laying for about four days a week ago and I know that antecdotal evidence is really not all that helpfull, however I cut back on treats and forced them to rely more on their layer pellets and they are back to an egg a day now. I think they just take a break sometimes perhaps. Also, as a kid growing up on a farm I collected a lot of eggs and though I don't remember a shelless egg I do remember an occasional hollow shell.

They will stop laying when the get broody, the weather gets warm or cold and an soft shell or no shell egg does happen. I just got my first one today and it is one of my younger layers.

what do you mean hollow? like air? or just the white? i wouldn't assume it's air haha. unless she farted while it came out haha. anyway, i don't think i have ever gotten anythign like that. i have gotten shelless eggs though

Is something or someone stealing your eggs? How about a padlock for a few days and see if some eggs turn up.

I thought about that too...but noone eles eggs are disapearing. I thought I might have an egg eater so tomorrow if weather permits I am going to try my egg eater check tomorrow. If they pass that then...IDK I also am thinking they are trying to go broody together??? Tonight when they went to bed for the night they were both in the nesting box with the older hen having their fake egg tucked under her.
