We got these guys back in March as straight runs so they're going on 5 months old..... anyone know how to tell a roo from a hen? I tried online searching but the information is getting confusing 😫🤦🏻‍♀️.

There's no need to tell a roo from a hen in this case. They are all female. I wish I got so lucky with straight run chicks!
Shut the front door!!!! Really!!!???? My husband googled it when we were in Tractor Supply and we tried to "sex" them ourselves. We *thought* we picked 4 hens and a roo, but my neighbor had me doubting they were hens. We just went back to TSC and picked up 4 pullet chicks jic she was right 😱

lol the neighbor was dead wrong. At 5 months you would see very visible differences in their color patterns if you had males in the mix. Male SLWs have big, solid white should patches, long, thin icicle feathers on their saddles, and longer, flowing tails. You hit the jackpot!

That's more normal. Close to 50/50. It's still a bummer when you're wanting pullets and eggs.
50/50 is pretty good for straight run in my experience! I've always had more cockerels than pullets up until my most recent batch! A bit funny, I only wanted about six birds so bought 16 assuming it would be close in distribution to other batches and ended up with 10 hens! :thIt's always the opposite of what you want I suppose!
