Hens skin on neck sliced wide open on fence

Pics
I gave her rescue remedy for shock. Gave nutri drench but is not drinking.
I thought she was too hot earlier, so i think she has been injured for at least 3 hours.

I have absorbable sutures. Do i clean her inside with something before trying? The wound looks clean. Her neck itself is exposed, and i think theres a skin flap haning down.
Do i cut the feathers off?
Do i pain medicate?
She is alert, can perch. Willing to walk. She has an active, spazzy personality. Is very sedate right now.
Hello! I am so sorry to read this! Poor thing! Poor girl! If the wound is clean you might can do one of two things. Can you find a vet that will see her or a vet Er hospital? If not if nothing else if you can get some sterile water at a pharmacy and clean the wound with that it would be best. If you can bring her inside away from all pests and other birds and outside debris it would be best. I hope she will tolerate this. I hope that a Vet would at least call you in some pain meds if nothing else. If you can keep her out of shock you may have a chance. If you have ever put in sutures or sewn anything for yourself here is your chance maybe but try to get a vet to answer first. Also try to see if a pharmacy has steri strips and a suture kit included in a good first aid kit. Do you have any Vetericyn which is Veterinary would spray?you are welcome to call me at 662-791-9343 for help. Now I am no vet or vet tech. I have just put some sutures in and staples in for medical doctors on people and worked for doctors as a registered radiological technologist and radiation therapist and I was a hospital administrator for many years. I will do all I can to help you if you want me to and don’t mind. Pam

I am sorry I didn’t see the last post where you had gotten some pain meds and had seen her up. Great and awesome job! That takes nerve. If you like I am always available. It is 1a m over here in the U. S. It doesn’t sound as if you are in the U. S. If you need to call though feel free and best of luck!

Yesterday, ellis was normal, very active, alert. She got 2 doses of antibiotic. She's still not eating much. I fed her scrambled egg, but she picked all around it and ate the chia and flax seeds excitedly. I gave the egg, in the end, to the other hens. They ate it. Ellis really is into the seeds. And greens, but only if she can rip them off the plant, (with resistance).

I'm wondering if she is getting sour crop?
When I brought the egg out and she leaned over to eat, it seemed like water shot out of her mouth? Not a huge amount. Like half a teaspoon to a teaspoon. What to do? Ill look it up elsewhere, to but I'm sure you guys know also. Thanks

Thank you, Pam! I sure would have called you! I did "sew" her up but guidance would have been great. She's alive and doing well, although losing weight. It's a week and 2? Days now since she got hurt. I am still tempted to revisit the stitches thing.
Oh! Maybe you know! How long do silk dissolvable stitches (probably from the late 90's) take to dissolve?

Last night, after she was asleep,) I took her bandage off to let her take a break. I sprayed her down with vetericyn and put triple antibiotic and corona lanolin cream on the worst areas ( that i want to stay moist.)

Yup, i am in the US. I don't necessarily act like it, though!

I think the roos are not prohibited per say according to the words of the ordinance, but if the noise causes too much bother to the neighbors, the cause is prohibited. Sooo.. my roo. We had gotten rid of him in the morning, the day the inspector came in the afternoon. Apparently they got 4 or 5 complaints. I suspect some of them were about a neighbor's roo. My neighbor moved out about a week ago, and the roo got quiet.
Of my 5 immediate neighbors,
one is happy about the chickens, roo included,
one says we're GREAT neighbors (but didn't hear me when I asked specifically about roosters),
one doesn't have any problem and was happy when he woke he up at 7 because she missed her alarm,
and the 4th is hearsay. The 3rd neighbor said the 4th said she likes them.
Which leaves the neighbor who likes to party in the back.

Even so, I'm only allowed 2 chickens! I thought they said 4 when I asked a couple of years ago. The town guy said the county sometimes makes exceptions.

Ill back off on the bluekote today and maybe we can get a better look at the redness. What you say sounds right. I thought "ok, good, there's blood flow" when i saw it. The one swollen spot looked like it could be a little problematic. I know there was a spot that got pinched as i was stitching and i think that's the spot. Might be constricted.
