I have a nine month old Modern game bantam hen and she just started laying. I have thoroghly checked for lice/mites as I do all my birds and did not see anything. I did give a dusting of sevin dust when I brought her home and put her in quarantine as a preventative as I do all new birds and wormed her as well. I noticed the other day she appears to be missing feathers around her vent/bum area. One day before she laid her first egg, I noticed she was a bit wet back there and it was a watery chalky looking wentess. No redness or swelling. She is still laying, eating and drinking. Behavior is normal, but the other hen in with her does not look this way on the rear, but is also a year older. I got them at the same time and that is why they are in quarantine together with a roo purchased at the same place. Is this the way she would look as a new layer? Or could this be something else? (it is the blue hen)
