hens will not lay eggs where they are suppose to

My 4 hens are great layers but will not lay them in the nesting boxes. They prefer to lay them under the roosting bar. Should I try to break this habit or just accept it?

Yes try to break them of the habit, who wants dirty eggs? Use fake eggs or golf balls in the nest boxes, to try luring them to use the boxes. If you can catch one starting to lay put her in the nest.

ok thanks! for a while i was going out in the morning and putting the boxes where they lay them, just to keep them clean, then removing the boxes when i collect the eggs. But thy kick the shavings out of the boxes and lay them outside the box! i'll try the fake eggs! Thanks!
