Here they are, hens or toms?

I really dont care what it is as long as it is big enought o make it worth my time to butcher it in a few months. But I will admit that it would be nice to have a tom.

From what ive read, the RP's dont grow fast enough to be a good meat bird. Id just as soon sell it as I would butcher an inferior bird. Im sure someone would enjoy having a pretty bird like an RP running around the farm. Heck, the bb is a little bit bigger than a fryer sized broiler chicken now!

RP's are good to eat but don't have a very big breast! it's kinda shallow and Y shaped. It will be ready for christmas with a good diet. I challange you to raise both of them and have the BB for thanksgiving and the RP for christmas and report back which one had a better flavor. Your BB should be 30-40 lbs by Thanksgiving. If you have never butchered a turkey before, just remember 4 days or so in the fridge before freezing or cooking lets the meat break down and it will have a much better texture. We always kill our turkey on Sunday and cook Thursday for thanksgiving. You won't want a store bought again.

Im starting to think that they are both hens now. Im not 100% sure, but I think the BBW might be growing feathers back on its head. The RP still pretty much looks the same except a hair bigger and more black growing in on the feathers. Ill try to get some current pics up tomorrow.

What kind of size can I expect to get out of a hen BBW in 4-6 months?

Well, guessing the gender on young turkeys is always a chancy business.

but based on your photo here I'm going to say the one on the left is a hen and the one on the right is a tome. Especially since you say the BBW is a week younger than the RP.
