First time I've heard this group rave about the pictures rather than the chicks.
Most cameras have a macro mode on them, and keep the IOS low enough and you to can have great cameras.
A great we low light camera, raved about in the industry is the Fuji F series. The best of them has been the Fuji F30 or F31fd. These two cameras were market leaders. Unfortunately Fuji have now entered the megapixel war with the others (F40/ F50). The F30/F31fd are 6mp, more than enough for a great A4 print. These are now sought after by Fuji enthusiasts.
My 2c worth,

I agree Eddie...there are many great cameras out there and if you use them the right way you can get some great shots. My problem was I never used them the right way...I just point and shoot.
I take a lot of pictures of bees in my bee hives and the macro works pretty good on the camera I had but I missed a lot of pictures due to slow shutter speed. The only reason I got the SLR is for the close up bee pictures without having to use macro. These pictures are just on the automatic auto focus setting. By the time spring is here and I start photoing the bees I will have studied how to really get some good shots.
Jay, did you get my email today? I wonder if it isn't working for some reason. I've changed it now, so the new email listed here is my regular one, not my BYC one.
You sure made me want to chuck my old digital for a better one! Great pics.
I have been messing around with my digital since I've been seeing very impressive photos here. Thankyou soooo much for sharing your settings, I could not figure out how to get those close clear pics. Karen
