HERE WE GO AGAIN Anyone SETTING Aug 30th - Sept 8th join me!!

Those are the brinsea Eco glows. That is what I use for heat... Although it doesn't take long and they use it to roost on and as a poop shelf!
I remember reading somewhere that a person stuck some clear contact paper on the top of those and then just peeled it off and threw it away when they were done. Saved them from scrubbing all the dried poop off it.

I would try to bring the humidity down just a bit more. Low 60's if you can. Mine have taken anywhere from 12-24 hours from pip to hatch. The one that just hatched pipped around 6 am this morning and hatched about 6pm tonight. Congrats on the pips!!

5 have now pipped. And still none have hatched. One is at about 24 hrs now - it is still seems happy enough it is still chirping. The second one has opened his pip a little more - but still no zipping from either two. The other 3 only pipped about 3 hours ago.

I am still nervous - and I dont know whether to intervene?

Looks like my last egg wont hatch :(  I took the other chicks out of the incubator this morning and checked that egg... really didnt see anything moving but I will leave it or another day or so.  Any way.. my hatch was interesting. I am used to hatching only standard colored Silkies and this time I did a paint  to paint breeding.
the colors are interesting :) One paint, one black , one white with no black skin or black legs and beak and on ??? color. The questionable colored one seems to have a leg problem. Not spraddled or curled but is walking on the hock on the one leg ?? I cant feel where there is an injury... They are close enough together. It is getting around sort of hopping... hope it improves soon.

Ur chicks are soooooo sweet love the yellow one with the 2 little black marks

Ok things are looking more optimistic now:

The smaller one on the left was the first to pip well over 24hrs ago. He poped out this evening after the big one on the right. He/she pipped and hatched within 1hr.

Still another 5 pipped and 1 not pipped.

As long as they are still chirping and active I wouldn't intervene. It's when they start to sound weaker and less movement from the egg that you can start to worry. A lot happens from pip to zip inside the egg. They are finishing up absorbing the yolk and the blood vessels are drying up. Here is a good article on assisting a chick to hatch. Make sure to read the other article they mention in the first post before you read this one.

Glad to see they are progressing. CONGRATS on the new little fuzzy butts!!!
