HERE WE GO AGAIN Anyone SETTING Aug 30th - Sept 8th join me!!

Here are my 8 black copper marans and 4 Americaunas.

Here is my #13 hatch. It only unzipped 3/4 by itself... but it kept looking at me and chirping so after 12 hours or so, I unzipped it the rest of the way and it got itself out. So, of course I shouldnt have helped...usually if they cant get out...it is a sign, right? Well, this liitle guy has one leg that splays out to the side. I have a splint on it. It is difficult to make out from the picture, but it is almost like the entire left hip is out of socket. Even when braced, that left side heaves when it tries to move. Are they any other fixes that I can try?
Little comment...every unhatched chick almost totally I have read about (and my own, too)..since April -May when i got on the hatch thread that needed help unzipping had a messed up leg.
Some were correctable or got beeter on their own and some werent but odd isnt it, none could zip themself and had a bad leg?

I started having hatching nightmares 3 days ago. I normally don't have dreams that I remember but the "hatching" dreams of late have been terrible. They hatch and some horrible looking creature takes them out of the incubator and runs off with them.

LOL....I have hatching dreams and nightmares at the last days of incubation....also I don't rest as good as usual...but your nightmare wins hands down....lol....good to know I am not the only one.

The hip is where the problem stems from. The reason for the brace is to place the leg in the proper position so that when the hip "solidifies" the ball fits properly into the socket. That is why it is crucial to begin treatment during the first few days.

FAM Project... . HOPE the splay fix helps well.

I have a guy whos leg and hip were grown wrong his leg went across his body underneath Helped him zip too..
I have tried numerous things and now he can stand but stands one foot on top of the other so has to lean on a wall to get around as hes off balance and his hip still is at a very odd angle
He cant be with the others. Sad case all alone.
He has a mirror for a friend and hasnt grown big as the others at all.some one wrote they usually die eventually with no friends .He is 6 weeks now and about the size of a 3 week old..
Should be culled really but I just cant do it
Has to make sure his bowl was full of water constantly (a bottle cap so he wouldnt drowned ) and now has a hamster waterer in there . Better for me,. Hard for him to lean down well as he falls over a lot so eating isnt easy either .Just a mess really.Cant clean himself to keep his featehrs as hes off balance.
if yours can stand and walk some then he can be ok to actually live and be with the others even if not totally normal..
i think.mine is a worst case scenario of an off hip.

I got 0 out of 18!!.
Threw them out today... day 23.Discusted.
Just how the chicky crumbles i guess and better luck next time to all.!!

Im on to puppiy birthing ...Well in 8 weeks. BOTH my E. Mastiff girls are in heat.
I didnt know about the one (the MOm of the other) and shes the one been with my male Jackson.... quietly in heat!! .
...,,,Her daughter Sophie is the one I DO want pregnant so hopefully not 2 litters as that could be disasterous in my little house ...........24 BIG puppies possible?in WINTER COLD...? WHEW....NO WAY!
LAST time Mom didnt get pregnant so hope its like that this time or i will be in trouble

So end of the hatching for this year and will do more next year hopefully Feb March .I will see some of you then and be watching the threads even so...too addicted to stop that part and met so many great funny and nice helpful ppl on here..GOOD LUCK to all who are hatching...and have hatched.

And better luck to those (Kel and WRV & others )who didnt have too good of luck,.
.
Sorry to hear that your last hatching attempt was a failure. I am starting to wonder why the last 2 of mine have been singletons? 1/7(RIR)in lockdown and then 1/3 in lockdown for the Araucanas. Although I am only on day 22 with the Araucanas, there may stiill be hope but I am highly doubting it. Good luck with the puppies. I envy you being able to have them. I tried twice with very good bloodlines and neither took. Then personal issues got in the way and I decided it would be best if I put it on the shelf. It has been great getting to know you in the past few threads. We have had a lot of ups and downs together. I did a BAD thing last night and bought another dozen+ Heritage RIR eggs off of ebay. I swore I was not going to do shipped eggs again but I just couldn't resist that BIN button...LOL. If this set doesn't work out I will probably be done until my own birds mature enough to start laying their own eggs next year. It will probably be around Feb/March so it looks like we will be hatching buddies again in the near future. God Bless and keep in touch.

My last 2 were terrible too. 0/53 (if I remember ok) and 1/15....In this one I have 7 developing ok out of 28. If those 7...or 6.....or 5....or ....if something hatches
I'll be so happy...LOL...I have lowered my expectations.
