HERE WE GO AGAIN Anyone SETTING Aug 30th - Sept 8th join me!!

I received a message back about my egg shortage... I guess there was a mix up. He did include 4 extra eggs but sent my cochins to someone else and I received lemon orpingtons. Not sure what they are but I will google them! He offered to make it right if I would pay for postage. I hope to do that in 21 days

you shouldn't be paying for the postage. You didnt do anything to make this person send you the wrong eggs. I would ask for a refund.

Lemon orps are beautiful! I had a hard time choosing between Black /Blue Marans or Lemon Orpingtons to hatch out this time. I decided to go with the Marans because the eggs would be local.

One of mine has a "stuck" yolk. Doesn't float to the top when I rotate the egg.
Another looks like it just didn't get going.
Three have heartbeats. One looks like it's a day older than the other ones, the vein network is giant!... scary!

No way you should not have to pay for shipping twice! The seller's responsibility is to fill the order, and if they couldn't fill the order they should have notified you ahead of time. This seller didn't do that and they should be willing to make it right without requiring anything else from you. imo.

ok, my broody kicked out an egg...well not really she is just not sitting on it. So I took it in to candle and it had a lot of fluid in there... The egg is still alive. Does anyone know what is going on? maybe she is "airing" it out... I doubt that cause she was trying to hatch a plastic egg for the longest. So I think the humidity here is too high... but the chickens around here always hatch their own eggs and do fine. kinda wondering if I should go get those other 3 eggs from her and give her back her plastic ones. ...

My last broody did that a couple of times. I wasn't sure if it was a bad egg or anything was wrong so I candled it and it looked fine, so I just kept shoving it back under her whenever it was out. All three of her eggs ended up hatching just fine. I do think she was either airing it out, cooling it down or just being a dingbat.

Candled some last night. They all looked alike but day 7 dont know if that was good or bad as i never candled that early before usually day 10 and day 17.Alway brown eggs so seldom see veins.Had some early glitches..hope it didnt screw them up.Threw out one stinker.Still have17 left so far.

I'm not sure if I'm day 8 or 9, I set most of the eggs under my broody on the 31st. Anyway it goes, I couldn't resist candling when I kicked her off the nest tonight to go poo. I got great movement out of all 4 silkie eggs, 2 of 3 unknown mama light brown eggs, and movement in 1 of 3 cuckoo maran egg. I'm not sure about the one light brown egg, it will get a couple more days before I decide it was a quitter. It seems like it started but I couldn't see veins or movement like the other two. The cuckoo maran eggs are so dark that I can't see much. I was amazed to see movement in the one egg at all. Those eggs get a free ride unless they're doing something gross just because I can't see much when candling.

Whee! Waiting is not my strong point.
