OHHHHHH My god...thats I'll be laughing all afternoon at work....so funny.

Went into lockdown with my SIlkies and Marans this morning. After candling we are down to 10/12 Silkie eggs and 5/12 Marans. I actually saw an internal pip when I was candling the Silkie eggs. That was a first for me. All the air cells look great. Movement in all eggs. Looks like it won't be too much longer.

That is really cool about the pip being visible!

I am really anxious about tomorrow's bunch. I really want them to hatch. Apparently I CAN successfully hatch in an LG and whatever went wrong last time was a fluke as these hatched well. But I'm nervous. I'd love to have more SFH.

I did decide that maybe, for me, a slightly lower than typical RH is better.

Don't forget to feather sex your babies. Kind of fun to see if you are right later. But you have to do it in the first 3 days.

We put our babies in with a Silkie that is probably 6 weeks old. He is acting like a mama to them and letting them stand underneath. Silkies are not the sharpest crayons in the box, but they are gentle and kind.

I ordered another batch of Catdance Silkies that should arrive here Wednesday or Thursday. This will be it for me for the winter though. I will have to rearrange the chicken barn for the babies as they come out of the brooders that are in the house and into the "regular" chicken area. Are we going to continue to post here or is someone going to start a new thread? Be sure and let me know if someone does!!!
