OK I guess our little yellow Parakeet, Carla, and her mate, Stormy, really want to hatch out their own babies and be parents, because just last month she tried it a second time and managed to hatch the babies and raise them, but some other females raided the nest and killed them all.

So we decided to let her take a rest by taking the nest box out. Then Stormy started to get picked on by the other Parakeets and so we moved him and Carla into a separate cage(so he wouldn't be lonely) and last week she laid a few eggs in the bottom of the cage!

Even taking the nest box out won't stop her! Well at least she still had a long rest, and this time can try again. The first time the eggs weren't fertile, and the second try she was more experienced and would have succeeded if the other females hadn't attacked the nest. And now that she is separated from the other females, her eggs are fertile, and she has more experience, hopefully the baby parakeets will survive. And since she shouldn't lay them on the bottom of the cage(where poop and seeds, etc. are), we are going to put the nest box into the cage and put her and the eggs in it.

Hopefully she succeeds this time!

Usually 4-6, sometimes 8 or more at times. Carla usually lays 4 eggs.
They will lay 1 everyday, and they will hatch in that order...first one laid will hatch first, 2nd one laid will hatch second...etc.
