Whether or not a chicken will go broody depends on which breed the chicken is.

All turkey varieties will go broody. I have only had one turkey hen that did not go broody. There was something wrong with her because she never laid an egg. Even though she never laid an egg, she went through the egg laying motions daily during laying season. All of my other turkey hens have gone broody at least once each year.

Turkeys are seasonal layers and normally begin laying in the spring and can continue into the fall. If a hen is allowed to brood and raise her poults, she may only lay enough eggs for one clutch and be finished laying for the year.
