And that "thing" can breed naturally?

Yes, he weighed about 30 lbs, and hatched lots of poults from him and his brother, and 5 hens.

Nice Bourbon, how does one get in touch with Porter's??

There is a link on post #2 of this thread.

Thank you...................

That is why the Midget Whites can breed naturally, because they are lighter weight.
I watched my birds yesterday, getting ready for the Poultry Show this week end...and my hens look pathetic due to mud, and a few missing wing feathers.

The Toms look great, intact, but muddy tail tips and wingtips as they are displaying (for all to see) and in the process, dragging wingtips through the mud.
Ugh!!!

I wish you were here Jim to show me how the heck you bathe a turkey.

LOL
And what do you recommend as a soap?
Some have told me Peroxide...
Some have told me woolite...others swear by no more tears baby shampoo & spray bottle or Hudson-type sprayer full of warm water to rinse.
With a busted knee...this ought to be FUN!!

I do so envy those with dark colored turkeys!!

and do any of you use a feather sheen-spray afterwards?

When we bath birds we use baby shampoo. Just the normal simple kind. No extras.

bath him very carefully in a large tub. If it is gentle use your bath tub. If not, use a tub outside.

You will see just how gentle when he is covered in shampoo!
