They are saying that they are sick of the ice and snow. And that their owner picked a supposed heat tolerant breed, only to freeze them through the winter.
And I am saying that I started thinking about Yellow House's rose combed Anconas. LOL.

My almost featherless NNs haven't missed a lick but their owner is looking harder at Costa Rica. I already have minor assets there. One more winter like the one we now endure might make me 'pull the trigger'!!!![]()

What Train?Hellbender,
Things are icing up here in western PA which you will have to cross to get to Pittsburgh. 4-5 inches of snow expected before noon tomorrow. Drive careful and be safe. Many of the towns around here (between you and the Airport) are running dangerously low on salt and anti-skid. Make sure you check ahead on the tollway and take an emergency kit. Have had several wrecks on the PA tollways around the Commonwealth, taken hours to clear. Local people coming down onto the road to bring them food. Have you thought of taking the train?
Best,
Karen
Does anybody have the contact information for Jamie Matts? Please PM me. Thanks.
I was taught to watch the birds by an African Grey parrot that I hatched in the early 80s. He was raised just after the tornado ran through Atlanta with very little warning, and destroyed a lot of the fashionable Buckhead area. The local weather stations then ramped up their radars, and the warning beeps of weather messages were played on TV for just about any storms. This young parrot put 2 and 2 together in a hurry, and started beeping before the weather stations did. He was always right.Thank you dragonlady. I had never thought of linking these things together. Guess I haven't lived long enough yet, either that or I've got a little oxygen on my brain.
You'll be best to leave that last item of survival gear behind when you move to Costa Rica.... comfort and safety and I will have all 'survival' gear in the back compartment.
including my Thompson .45 Colt/.410 shell with 10 inch bull barrel.

Enter storm Hugo..By this time I was in SC;. We were told the storm would go up the coast, but the bird was beeping 3 days beforehand, and he would NOT shut up. I decided to listen to my bird, and got ready. Everybody thought I was nuts, as we are so far inland. As everyone knows, Hugo cut a swath from Charleston, SC, right through Camden, and into Charlotte, NC.The bird was right again !
