Susan,
Who would I contact in Region 5? I am just starting with Red Dorkings in AR. I have a Horstman rooster and 12 juvies from the Tice line. I would love to have some info on experience Dorking breeders in this area and help on choosing my breeders. Thanks!

Caj1985 There are several very good breeders in your region. In my region I hope to develop a mentor-ship program for people like you and will of course push to see this happen across the country. We are truly at grass roots level here though so something may take a little time.

The person we are talking to about possibly taking up the directorship of your region will not be available to consider the position for a few weeks. I am in touch with Jim Parker (Secretary of the club) to see if he has already appointed someone or if he has other applications for the position to consider. The certain region directors myself in region 3 and another who will be announced later in region 2 are looking at director option for the other regions.

It sounds like you have very nice birds. My reds are from Dave Valentine and his stock is a mix of Hortsman, Tice and Wetterstroem. I will be adding Rudy Troxel birds from a breeder in Alabama this fall.

On a personal note I would love to keep in touch and see how your flock develops.

Hi,
I miss our little community here. Ever since they split the new Genetics section and left us here.
I understand why, I mean this is not strictly a showing /genetics thread. I understand that.
Yet, seems some have gone to the Production thread, some to Genetics, other hang out here, sigh.

I was just reading he last 20 posts. I didn't know anyone else felt the way I do. That's encouraging.
Maybe it is just me. I am having the most discouraging hatching season. The one hen I need to
lay has decided to be sporadic. After this season, I am so done with providing other people stock
until I build up my flock. I'm frustrated and upset. But there is nothing untoward going on. These
are all agreements made in good faith on both sides. The birds just aren't cooperating. I am
worried I will be hatching in Sept.

Oh well,
Karen

You are so on the mark with needing to build up your own Stock!

Try not being discouraged. At least some are hatching and you will get over this slow spot eventually and all will be smoother again.

Can you all please look at these two Chantcler's and tell me if bird-1 is a cockerel? I will post 3 pics and two are the #1 bird that I think is a cockerel and the #2 and the others look like this bird.

This is the first pic of the #1 bird (closest to the left)

This is the second pic of the #1 bird that shows the comb closer

this is the #2 bird. Don't mind the bag, I just fed them the last of that bag. lol edited to add which bird in the top pic.
Thank you
