Heritage Large Fowl - Phase II

I use zip ties until they are bigger and then switch to plastic bands.
The zip ties always fall off after a couple of months here. It must be the dry hot weather.

We broke a record for the day yesterday--105.
Yeah, I have zip ties. Only need them to last until I can order wing tags.
Thanks,
Karen

Your welcome.

I had eggs from several sources in the incubator at the same time. The only ones I was really concerned about keeping up with were the Silver Campines from the Urch line breeders. I had the eggs marked, but wanted to make absolutely sure I knew which chicks came from them because I also had some out of a half SC hen and the breeder cock. As the chicks pushed the top of the shell off, I used a long skewer, a bit of cotton, and GREEN food coloring to dab the chicks on any part that I could reach without opening the lid. It worked like a charm and the green stayed until they were almost completely feathered out!
