Heritage Large Fowl - Phase II

@gjensen I would like to become active in 4H but I do not know how. My parents, although they don't mind me having chickens, don't necessarily take interest in it like I do. So I am kind of on my own in finding people for help. That's why I came to you guys. How can I join 4H? Can I get in touch with good breeders from there?

Here's the link to the Illinois 4H website. 4H is run by the Extension service. If you click on the *join* button, you can get to the link to find the Extension office near you so you can call them and tell them you are interested in getting involved.

The other tips concerning the 4H are good.

Often there is good support and help for 4H members. I would start there, taking it one step at a time.

Let us know how that goes for you, and if there are any problems.

Leghorns are an admirable breed. Bred to a high degree of excellence, and a surplus of history. I am partial to them. I like the white, buff, light brown, and dark brown varieties.

Here's a couple of places for high quality White Leghorns.

Not off topic. 3riverschick was responding to a prior poster who was interested in working with heritage breeds and liked white leghorns.

I'm asking what the "OT?" in the post immediately before mine means. We were just discussing how abbreviations and slang make following conversations difficult, and this is an excellent example. It's insider slang for something, but I'm not a show person, so I don't know what. And maybe the kid who is trying to get into chickens doesn't know either ... ?

Clearly "Off Topic" is the common use for OT. But I highly doubt that's what it means in this context.

Such an awesome example.
