You hate to see faults like that in your line, but for me, it is also hard to cull nice birds just because you don't need them all. Of course of the two problems, the second is Better.![]()
That's exciting! Do you think you will be showing them soon?OH, that is a shame. I hate it, too, that's why I am going to pair them up this year with some cull hens and haul them to shows to sell. I am glad there has begun to be more interest in them in the past year. I have been hauling them to shows to introduce them to those who don't know them and to let other breeders know that I am working on them in case they want to try them. For many years, it was nearly impossible to find decent stock to start with. I have just gotten to the point that I can share decent culls and I have even been selling some hatching eggs from the same pens I am hatching from. I am hearing from people on a regular basis that are interested in the Silvers and it thrills me that more people are starting to appreciate them.
Silver Campines were on my original list of must-haves, but then I read that they did better in warmer climates, so I moved to pea combed breeds. I'm just astonished that they aren't more popular, a flock of Campines is stunning.
