Herman Friendship Cake/Bread/Cookies

Hello all!! When I was growing up, I remember my mom having the Herman stuff in the fridge. I was wondering if anyone here had any and if you have any different recipes than the standard cake or cookies?

I'm hoping there is someone close by that I can get a start from, too? Been having a craving for it for some reason - even though I couldn't tell you what it tastes like since it's been well over 30 years since I have had any.

I have sourdough starter going now - I started out with Herman and will have to dig out my Herman recipes for you. I have a couple more than just the bread one.

My favorite sourdough recipe works well with Herman, it just turns out sweeter.

Bacon Cheddar Sourdough Muffins makes 1 dozen
3 slices of bacon - diced and fried to light brown
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Stir together with 1 teaspoon of flour to coat.

1 3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Mix dry ingredients together

1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup starter (Herman)
1/2 cup oil
Combine wet ingred. - Stir into dry - Add bacon and cheese

Bake 350 degrees for 20 min. Best while still warm.
