He's slipping into silence. Test results page 8

Good luck. I just read through the thread and my heart goes out to you and your ds. There are so many advances today in medicine that I cant imagine that he will not have some options. Once you know what it really is hopefully you will be able to solve it, and even if he does go deaf it doesnt mean a thing, with a mother like you he will still have a wonderful life, but I am praying that it doesnt go that far.

There is nothing embarassing about deaf folks, with their hand signing and squeaky or nasal voices.

My parents found NOTHING embarassing about me being deaf, just my off the wall jokes!

Results: Hearing Aid and speech therapy.

He's not distinguishing between background noise and conversations, but there is nothing terrably wrong, just needs a hearing aid for his left ear.

Oooooh congrats! I wear a hearing aid also, in my right ear-totally deaf in my left (since birth). It's a long drawn out story, but he'll be okay with 2 smart, savvy parents like yourselves! Get him a top of the line digital suited for his needs and an excellent speech therapist. It won't make him hearing again, but good equipment and quality people will make his life a lot easier! Good luck and God bless!!!
