I tried that once. It was winter, nighttime, and I forgot to shut the pophole door. I figured that if I ran fast enough, I'd only notice a little cold. (I was young and too lazy at the moment to put on socks or shoes...I have no idea why).

I *don't* recommend it. I made it halfway to the coop; it felt like knives were stabbing into my feet. I ran back and got my socks and boots like a normal human being.

Ok, so I just now registered after lurking here for months and months. Can I belong even if I don't have any chickens? Will you let me lurk here even if I don't know when I might get some chickens? What about if there is no chance for chickens in the forseeable future?

I've learned so much from all of you here: what kind and size of coop and run I want, what breeds I might like to have, where to order my first chickens, what to feed them, what ailments and diseases to look out for, what makes good treats, how to make your own yogurt (thanks to Miss Prissy), how to pred proof, etc. etc. Heck, I've even got my first dozen hens named! But I live on a small city lot in a town that does not allow backyard chickens and I don't know if or when I'll ever get back out to the country where I can finally have me some chixs.

Yes, I know I am pitiful......please have pity and let me hang out here anyway. I have always wanted to have a small flock of backyard chickens, a coop and some fresh eggs.

Hey, for all we know, none of these folks really have chickens and that BYC is just a vast government conspiracy to explain the future spread of avian flu to the masses....
