Hey BrahmaMama can you tell me about these Breyers. :)

Oh Angie, I am SO glad you are keeping them for K! I have about 40 or so from 1975-82 era that I kept in a huge box for years and years, along with the handmade leather tack I'd made for them when I was about 13. I gave her a couple of the ones I didn't care about (with chipped ears) when she was younger, and of course they got trashed pretty quickly. I am glad I waited to give the rest to her. We got them out when she was 10.5, and she's been very careful with them. She found web sites to look them all up and has been buyig some new ones as well. I expect she'll keep the growing collection for HER daughter when she outgrows them. How fun!!!

I got some Breyer models when I was in my early 20's and living alone in an apartment. But when I got married, I stowed them all in a box , deciding that they were "toys". But this thread is making me think I should take them back out and display them.

The best thing about Breyer animals is that they are always realistic, not cartoony or cheapened versions of the real thing. They're more like art than a toy. They just happen to be made out of plastic, not marble.

Thanks ladies for inspiring me.

This is pretty cool, I didn't realize how many people kept and collect them.
Mine live in the attic because I just don't the room for them. I think they are pretty happy, they have their little stable and all.

Seachick, that seems like a good age to give my DD the Breyers.
I made little halters and things for them, too.
I'd really love to get more. Maybe I can start collecting them for DD and when she's old enough to have them, she will will have a very large herd.

Angie, the stall setup in your attic is mega-cute.
They look very happy there, except they want
some sweet-feed with their polyester carpet diet.

I actually found this beautiful hand made, one stall wooden barn for sale at a tack swap for only $40! It has real shingleso n the roof, hooks for small tack, a feed and water bucket, beautiful sliding door and even a hay loft with a ladder. It's so well made and so different from the breyer made barns. My parents bought me the tiny barn sets years ago and I've been meaning to stain the barn for the longest time! Maybe this summer I will get to it.

Of the halloween horses, I have both little sets and the graveyard horse who I spent a small fortune on just to get! I really, really wanted him. I also have nosferatu...the vampire horse with bats on his rear. I would love to get Skully and the one with the phantom!

WOW! Breyers, Hartlands, etc. As a kid, I would get some every Christmas. I have a mass collection. I lost count after 200. Now I'll HAVE to take some pix. I started young, so most of mine are "antiques"! 60's, 70's, and 80's. I stopped collecting when I ran out of room. I still don't have enough room to get them all out of their boxes. I have a special HORSEY room just for the collection and my good saddle.

I still have some for sale... I sold a lot last year. Some are special runs, some are commemorative, some are from Breyerfest.

Now to take some pics.......

Yes, he was a "bonus" this past year. Breyer started doing a "Treasure Hunt" in 2006...you buy four of a certain model (2006 was 4 different Lady Phase molds) 2007 was the rearing "Silver" mold, and you cut the UPC's out, send them in with a check for shipping...$8 I believe, and they sent the Pegasus out for your bonus. This year is awesome, but going to be expensive...it's called "Color Crazy" and you buy 3 sets of Mare/foal at $46-50 each set...so about $150, and you get a "mystery stallion" in a color that could have *created* the color of the foal when crossed with the mare. I know some people have already bought the sets, but I haven't heard of anyone seeing the stallion yet. I did see the sets today at my feed store, and couldn't even consider buying them right now, lol!

I don't have the older unicorns/pegasus, but would love to have them someday

This is neat, to see so many others on here who have, or have had Breyers, Heartlands, etc. I believe pictures are in order, for those who have joined in
