Welcome fellow Seattlite! In the city you can legally have 3 hens... but I know at least 2 who break that rule. I reccomend making the drive all the way out to monroe, to Monroe Farm and Feed I think it's called, early in the spring. They usually get a HUGE selection compared to the co-op's.

Hang around here and you will learn all you need to know and then some!! Chickens are great pets! My kiddos love them!! Our 3 hens are very curious, friendly and not afraid of us or our other pets. Get them as little chickie fuzz butts and you will be all set! Treats help too! Best of luck!

Welcome! Like several have said - treats is the way to make friends. I got a batch of 4 POL black rocks to add to my flock about 1 week ago. They already see me as food angel and follow me everywhere!! We have found in the past that they will love you if you walk with them on your land and turn stones over so they can eat the bugs hiding underneath!!
