Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

oh that crab omelet sounds good!

Well I ended up with Quiche after all. A little while back I made one and older son liked it so I may make it a regular thing. Very versatile. I fryed up the sausage and put 1/2 aside for another use. Added shredded potatoes to brown. Put it in the pan with broccoli, the eggs and milk and sprinkled crispy fried onions on top. I did find some powdered cheddar sauce so I put a little over the top. Actually pretty good and savory. I wish I had some chives to throw in. And pierogi on the side.
Im going to try to do the breakfast thing once a week too. An easy night for mom.

ams I would have never thought of using cheese sauce! What a great idea.

I just love the Wednesday breakfast night too! I try to mix it up a bit. You know, waffles, quiche, omelettes, stratas, muffins and bacon, french toast.

Just knowing that its breakfast night gives me a place to start! I got the idea from Backyard buddies. Its easy and usually cheap!

Hey fellow cooks! I'm glad you're all enjoying the breakfast for dinner idea. I started it years ago when the kids were tiny. Hubby works late on Wednesdays, so it saved my sanity. The kids LOVE it and it definitely does take the pressure off.

We had scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast tonight.

thechickenchick - Thanks so much for the Cabin Stew recipe. It looks delicious! Question - Do I need to brown the meat first before placing in crockpot?

menageriemama - I'm glad to hear that you're feeling much better. I hope the cough leaves you soon.

Gay Renee - Glad to have another cook in the kitchen! Yes, legumes are good for you, even if they do remind you of childhood poor food. I have a few of those and admit they're not my favorites either. I try to learn better ways to prepare them, tho. Sounds like you found a great way to enjoy yours as well. You're from midwestern IL? My dad was born out that way - Fulton County. Many in my family have lived in many of the counties to the north of there.

I hope you feel better, Aneesa's Muse!

Those quiches, the breakfast casserole, and the Japanese omelette sound YUMMY!!

Backyard Buddies The recipe says to, but I don't. I think it just depends how you like it. It certainly cooks long enough for the meat to be cooked through. The venison I use we process ourselves so there is virtually no fat. However if your stew meat has a little fat sometimes the flavor is better if it is browned first. Let me know what method you use and if it turns out!

Gay Renee Sorry I forgot to welcome you! I meant to do it in my last post! Please forgive me and welcome to the kitchen! This thread is on my must check list! The people are fantastic cooks and friends.

happyhen.. is Kani-tama anything remotely close to Egg Fu Yun? (my brain hurts ..so spelling is awful, I'm sure

) It sounds similar ...sort of. LOL

Welcome to the kitchen, Gay Renee!

Hey ya all have not been coming to this thread too much as I have had some dental work done and it has been a long time since I wanted to look at food. But feeling a little better now so here I am again.

Hope all are well and welcome to all who are new.

Today for my son it is going to be burgers, fries and a salad, jello and a sobe for me for me LOL I have been living on those lizard lava drinks LOL getting tired of them.

Sure can't wait for real food.

Zookeeper its great to see you back.

I hope you are feeling better soon.I bet you are ready to eat real food. But if you are still on liquids I have recipe for "Orange Julius" that my Mom used to make for us when we were kids.

We didn't have much $ growing up so Mom was always trying to duplicate restaurant treats for us at home. She did a great job. If she were still alive she would be amazed that you can go on-line now and find any recipe you want!

Let me know if you want to try it and I will look for it.

Zookeeper9000!!! Great to have you back! You were missed!

I just defrosted a whole chicken and am pondering the idea of putting it in the crockpot so that I can forget about it for the rest of the day. Yeah, I think I'll do that. It's cloudy and looks like rain. I have a zillion things to accomplish today (or at least attempt to accomplish) so quick and easy sounds good.
