I feel like I did retire from cooking! We just returned from vacation/camping/family reunion! It was so fantastic. My DH has older siblings(much older than him just slightly older than me

) that live a long ways away. We see them every couple of years so this is only the second time for me. They are so nice and easy to talk to. Our children are all about the same age. Between us 3 couples there are three 14 year old and two 17 year olds. Mine has a slight physical disability and those kids were so great about making sure he could do everything they could!

Such sweethearts and so well behaved.

When we camp my DH is the king of the grill breakfast, lunch and supper! I think I may have forgotten how to cook! We got back day before yesterday. Last night was one last meal with the family at my MIL house and tonight we have a Benefit dinner to attend. Tomorrow some friends are treating us to a big lunch out. So Monday I may need to figure out what that big white thing with burners in my kitchen is for!!

I picked a basket full of fresh produce (mostly zucchini, of course). Don't know yet what I'll make with that. SO took out some chicken, looks like he might be bbq'ing. Yum. I keep eating plums and peaches from the garden. So I'm not that hungry.

I've been cooking.. but I haven't been on all my frequented forums much cuz I'm trying to wean myself off the pc for a little bit. Veggies are coming in, out back ..and the tortoise can get out some since it's warmer ..and less pc means less migraine, apparently. Besides, we'll be fasting (Ramadhan is not far off) very soon.. and I can't really consider myself to be completely fasting, if I'm still doing all the things I usually do... and all that.. y'know... schtuff..

Yesterday, I made some curried fish with vegetables in it.. Palak (spicy spinach) ...and some "fancy" basmati with vermicelli cooked in. I didn't make fresh naan, however.

I made the food.. waited for DH to come home from the dojo, to join me ..and he walked in the door with half a pizza from one of my favorite "mom 'n pop" joints......... so, tonight.. we'll have what I cooked last night

Mom 'n' Pop pizza is the best! I love supporting the smaller businesses.

It has been warmer for this time of the year. Early this afternoon, the breeze picked up and cooled everything down. We took the opportunity to grill some burgers and eat out on the patio. The Girls were out at the same time, begging for treats of course. They didn't get any on purpose. DD accidentally dropped the top of her bun while carrying her plate out. The chickens didn't complain one bit.

A Greek tomato, onion, cucumber, and olive salad rounded out the meal.

Aneesa's Muse :

The Greek salad sounds delicious!

Still tryin' to figure out what I'm gonna cook for us...

Can't take credit for the salad. Hubby picked it up from the deli at the store where I sent him to get buns for the burgers.

I'm still trying to figure out what to make as well. It's a bit on the warm side down here, so I certainly don't feel like heating up the house or eating something hot. What sounds appealing is a lentil salad of some kind - protein, vegetarian, healthy, and served cool. Maybe I'll go hunting for a recipe. If anyone has one, please share!

I am grilling tuna steaks outside. Serving them with steamed brown rice & veggies. We atr too much meat over the weekend, I need to go light for awhile.

Well I still don't have to cook tonight!

Hubby wants to grill pork chops. I will probably serve baked potatoes as a side and maybe some corn. We microwave our potatoes though because DH like the skin soft. I grew up with them baked in the oven with crispy yummy skins!

However he lets me get my way most of the time so I will give him this one.

If you have never done this before, it works great if you prick with a fork and place in a plastic grocery sack. Microwave for 5 minutes for 2 medium sized potatoes.
