Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

Burritos and Poor Mans Soup last night. Tonight is Chicken noodle soup or Chicken dumplings, I haven't decided yet! I am also making fig newtons and deviled eggs.

Velveeta Pizza? Two of my favorite things! Do tell??

Ditto on the Velveeta pizza. Please? Pretty please with Velveeta on top?

tcc, I would LOVE to know how you make fig newtons- my one attempt was lame!

Tonight, spaghetti - hot Italian sausage, Newman's Own sauce, enhanced of course, garlic bread and salad. That's not very original, but the sauce was on sale- and if I make a double batch, I can freeze some containers for DH's lunches.

This
is the one I am trying right now. I have never tried to make these before and this sounded pretty simple. My dough is chilling right now. I will let you know how it turns out!

I decided on dumplings. DH and I have been married almost 3 years and I have made them once! Of course I don't remember how I did it!! I really should right these things down!

Chili Mac! yum!

and making pepperoni rolls to take to my class tonight.

I just tried a Fig Newton. It is really, really good! The only problem I had was the dough would not stay together. So I ended up patting the bottom layer in to the pan. I mixed a little more flour in to the remaining dough. I rolled it out as directed, then cut it in to 4 pieces so I could place it on top in smaller chunks. It puffs up and really looks as good as it tastes. It turns out to be a soft bar cookie. I hope you enjoy them too.

Do you think this would work with some fig jam that I made that didn't set real hard - loose in the jar still. Intersting about the dough since I have read about this problem before when researching fig newtons. Guess it is a common problem - was the dough to dry? Next time what would you do different. I would love to master fig newtons since its the only real way that I like figs and our tree was loaded this year.

I think I know someone with a fig tree. I LOVE fig newtons, but haven't ever tried making them.

Our tv finally almost completely went yesterday. We have had to leave it on for several years because the on/off button stopped working. The last couple of months it would turn itself off and on at it's whim. Yesterday DH was not feeling well so was trying ALL day to watch a DVD(all we do with the tv) it would turn off after about 5 min. each time the not come back on for about 12 an hour. Very frusterating! So, when DGD got home from school we went to the city to get an EARLY family Christmas present. It was very different watching a movie on a different tv. So.... on the way home we stopped at subway to pick up sandwiches.

Tonight will be teriyaki marinaded ribs, rice, green beans.

I think the Fig Jam would work perfectly. I think the opposite was the problem, it wasn't dry but extremely soft. It said to chill it an hour which I did but maybe add a tad more flour and chill 2 hours instead?

I am so jealous that you have a fig tree!! I have a friend that has an organic food order business. I don't order form her but she gives me the left overs that are on the verge of spoiling and then I rush to use them up. She has given me grapefruit, figs, pears, carrots.... Its great!!

Last night was chicken enchiladas with creamy tomatillo sauce and tonight it's Phillipino Pork Roast.

Google says it's Fillipino but my recipe is Phillipino...must be cousins.

I want fig trees too but they die back every year I plant them.
