Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

Fluffy Dumplings. There is another type that is hard and kind of floats lower in the broth.

What Ron said. 4 to 6 slices of toast cut into small squares, two cups of flour, 1 tsp salt, 1 cup of milk, 1 egg, 2 tbsp. melted butter - mix and drop teaspoon sized bits into a pot of boiling water - about 8 minutes of cooking gets the job done. Drain, add butter and eat.

Tonight I cleared out the fridge and made some sort of pepper, onion, corn, cabbage, and sausage something... He'll eat it. He likes that sort of thing, but I think bread dumplings is on the docket for tomorrow. I'll be judge.

Dumplings themselves are sort of bland. You need some sort of a sauce/gravy to bring out their best. The neat thing about them is that they never turn out the same.

Whatever it was that we just ate, it was REALLY good. I surprise myself.

I think I will saute some chicken and and make a gravy for tomorrow's dumplings.
What herb goes well with it?
rosemary? too strong? lemon and... something...chive? parsely?

Like Sour said, any sauce you like--even cherry, Black Berry or any stewed fruit! Dumplings can go savory or sweet.
