Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

Sort of a sad evening last night. Monday is 'Half Price' pasta night at a local restaurant, and for the past 12 years of so we have had the same waiter. Due to unfavorable interactions with the owner's wife and a more stable situation in his life he has resigned from his position after 18 years. Last night Frank was our server for the last time. I can not believe the owner is letting him go - in reality he manages the restaurant on a server's salary. SMH

Tonight I made short ribs with noodles and sweet and sour red cabbage served with fresh sourdough bred from Costco. The bread is surprisingly good, and it freezes well.

Today we went to the Princess's hometown to decorate the graves of her grand mother and parents. Of course we had to stop at European provisions where we bought: Polish kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, blintzes, and home made vegetable noodle soup. Tonight we will have soup and the sourdough bread left over from last night. Tomorrow I will make the stuffed cabbage with mashed potatoes and green beans.

They will miss him more than they think!

Dinner sounds good!

Absolute truth. On Monday as he was talking to us another of the long time waitresses came up to him with a question. He gave the answer, and she looked at us and said, "Who am I going to ask when he is gone?" One thing I will guarantee you - not the owner or his wife.
