Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

When I lived in San Fancisco, I started a bed of asparagus with seeds from a odorless variety developed at UC DAvis. If they bothered to breed the smell out of post-asparagus urine, they might be developing a variety for your climate conditions!

joshplus10.. that "comfort food" sounds delicious!

cknmom... Y'all come! ...cuz next time he curls up his nose at my hard work in the kitchen ..I'm pulling out the top ramen and fish sticks he used to live off of ..some 10+ years ago

I made pizza and lasagna ...FOUR cheese, vodka (it's a type of potato) sauce, with spinach and italian sausage ..lasagna, no doubt! The pizza will have mozzarella, of course and some mushrooms, olives, peppers, garlic, etc. And I'll make a salad.. and pop the top on an ice cold Pepsi

The squash soup may make it to the freezer, or me and the bRats will nibble on it later. They appreciate my cooking

(Can you believe he came in here today and asked me where were all the Perogies? He didn't like them last night ..went to work hungry even ...but then comes back today.... I will never ever understand men. LOL)

It's a wet rainy day, which is a very good thing, and we decided to just hunker down, watch movies, eat left over minestrone soup (homemade with almost all the ingredients from our garden), store bought chicken pot pies, and for desert, it'll be a choice of homemade zuccini bread (from the freezer), homemade chocolate chip cookies and/or home canned peaches.
We even brought the dog in early, so we won't have to go later, put golashes and rain coats on in order to bring her in from the wet and cold. The chickens went to bed early tonight also. The cat thinks he wants to go out...

nope, his feet got wet, he changed his mind
This would be a good night for a nice cuppa tea with a little "something" in it. My mother used to call it tea with "oops"

Aneesa-WOW!!! does that sound GOOD!! (I don't have the drooly smiley that should go here)How about a recipe for that sauce?? I haven't heard of it before.

It snowed all day but didn't stick, and is raining all day today. We are supposed to get rain/snow from yesterday until next thurs.(maybe longer) except for Sun. and Tues.!

DGD and I took a nice walk in the snow storm last night. Then DH and I took one with the puppies, they had such fun! So did we!!

I will be looking back over recipes from here for soups and warming casseroles for the next few days.

I think I'll make red feathers tortilla soup tonight, only I'll cheat and use canned chicken breast chunks. It tends to be dry sometimes, but I like to keep it on hand for quick meals. So it will be perfect in the soup.

cknmom.. I will look for a "real" recipe for the sauce... but the one I used yesterday consisted of a gassed up Camry, short distance to the nearest Trader Joe's, and a quick pick up on their 'sauce aisle'. It was even organic!

The pizza and lasagna was favored.. I'm clear
