Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

Redfeathers... thanks for sharing your noodle recipe. I am going to really make an effort to make some homemade pasta very soon. I always thought I needed a fancy pasta machine thingy ..but it doesn't appear that you use one... right?

Oh... and while I'm here again.. can someone please share a decent Oatmeal Raisin Cookie recipe with me? I want to use the Crisco sticks I have left ..and we are somewhat tired of Peanut Butter cookies

I don't personally have one, but my 'go-to' place for recipes is allrecipes.com. I did a search for you and filtered it by rating. Here's one with 2,072 ratings (which is waaay more than a typical recipe receives). This one has an average of 5 stars, which means that over 2,000 people thought it was pretty darn good. If I was making one, this is what I'd try:

I wish I had a pasta maker, but I don't. I just mix it together with a fork and mix it even better by kneading it. I use a pizza cutter to cut the strips. Just make sure you roll the dough thin and have enough flour on your surface to be able to lift them from the counter to the drying rack or cookie sheet. The reason you want them thin is because they get kind of thick when they boil.

Have fun with adding different spices too. I made a batch of spinach noodles and they were really good!

DH brought pizza home tonight.

We were blown to OZ last night, 70-80 mph winds. We lost power around 2 this morning and were lucky enough to be restored about an hour ago. We have a small generator so I was able to run the fridge, chest freezer and space heaters (33 degrees today).

Fortunately, little damage was done, at least to my neighborhood.

Hamburgers tomorrow, with FRIES AND GRAVY!!

Redfeathers.. I've always preferred homemade pasta to box, but I am known for that

happyhen.. I'm glad to hear there wasn't any real damage with all that wind. We had some wind the other day, but it didn't last. We still have rain, though ... COLD rain, too.

Last night ended up being a Soy Vey (sauce) Chicken Broccoli, etc. over brown Jasmine rice. (I discovered no Palak ..spinach... when I got ready to do the IndoPak food.) IndoPak tonight ...Palak Paneer, Tikka Masala and Dal Chicken ..rice and naan.

I'm glad everything was OK, happyhen!

I'm sort of making up supper so we'll see how it turns out. I took a package of chicken breasts (with bones) and several white potatoes that had been cut into chunks. I tossed them with EVOO, garlic, fresh rosemary, oregano, salt, and pepper and am roasting them in the oven. They smell good.

I'll serve that with some steamed zucchini, cooked carrots (got a really good deal on those today), and French bread. I hope it tastes as good as it smells.

I had half a can of tomato paste that I needed to use up, so I breaded some chicken in flour/garlic/paprika/salt and pepper, then fried them in veggie oil, With the left over pan drippings and flour I made a roux (is that how you spell that?) lol...then I added the tomato paste and a big dollop of sour cream, sauted onions and garlic and piled it all on top of the chicken. It was a thick, rich sauce that was really good.

We also had pasta salad and corn.
