Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

Annesa's Muse - I'm sorry the headaches are back again.

From what I can remember, the sauce was thin, medium dark in color, slight sweetness but not over the top, a bit of spice to it. There could have been a bit of vinegar in it, but it didn't have much pucker that would come from a vinegar (not that rice vinegar is that way). There may have been a bit of an amber color to the sauce.

The lettuce leaves were red lettuce, not iceberg as is done with many of the Thai Lettuce Wraps you find in restaurants.

Thank you, Backyard Buddies

The worst ones come on when I get "the visitor", so when I'm dead or I do the "big M" ..I guess they'll stop

I'm still looking for a few other sauces, but I'm beginning to think it may have been a "chef's secret" type deal, as happyhen mentioned. I have a few of those up my own sleeve

Maybe I'll just go park myself at Le Cheval and ask to try ALL of their dipping sauces... they know me.. they might comply

As far as the beef goes, you can very easily mimic that with some partially frozen lean beef.. slice it uber doober thin (transparent) ..and season it accordingly ..then sprinkle a little light coating of cornstarch on ..and cook it quickly (or not).

As for our dinner.. I'm still hoping a full course meal with magically appear...

Yesterday was scallaped tato's and ham. Today hot ham sandwiches.

Anee sorry about those migranes I get them. Not too often now that I have the toy box removed but they do come on with a vengence when my pain level sky rockets. I get a med from the doc for them now. They put ya to sleep the first day but the next day you have a great day. Nothing gets ya down. It's called Maxalt 10 mg, they gave me samples first to see if they worked for me, you might want to check with a doc about them. Good luck. They sure can suck the joy out of life.

I have a sauce ?. At our local Chinses place I just love the sesame seed chicken. It is with a sweet brown sauce and I can not find a recipe for it and when I ask them what the sauce is called they just say a sweet brown sauce. Any idea's.

[bAneesa][/b] - sorry about the migraine. I've never had one, but I did have something similar with a concussion after the car accident. It lasted about 5 weeks. Hopefully migraines don't last that long. How are your newest rescues adjusting?

Zookeeper - How's your knee? Hopefully you're still taking it easy. I have a recipe for sesame seed chicken and the sauce. Let me know if you're interested and I'll post it on the recipe site.

We had ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans and cookies tonight. Yeah, I know, a day later than all of you!

It may be chef's salad tomorrow. I need something light after all this Holiday food.

Zoo.. I'm on Imitrex now ..and have tried Maxalt 10mg in the past, but it didn't phase my pain.. not none!

In fact, I think I've tried just about every migraine med and preventive there is ..and some that are not even for migraines, per se. Thank you, though.

How is your knee doing, btw?

Fortunately, my migraines don't last much more than 21 days in a stretch ..and not that often, anymore ..but they are troublesome, regardless.

happyhen... my latest and greatest rescue kid is putting on weight, rompin' and stompin' a little (can't allow him too much cuz it burns off all the calories we are trying to put on him), and he has wiggled his big ol' heart right into ours! Thank you for askin'!

DH went back to work today, so he'll figure out something....

Oh almost forgot to tell yall. My new cookbook is called Cooking from the Heart. It has a lot of fave recipes from top chefs of all different areas, Emeril, Martin Yan and more. lol
It's supporting the share our strength org. They do a lot of fundraising and such, to help feed the kids during the school summer vacations. Imagine, over half the kids in schools in the U.S. get their only hot, wholesome meals at school. Parents are either broke, or working. So, if your only meals are at school, what are you going to eat when school is out for the summer?
This program enables shelters, the YMCA and other places afford to feed the kids, and adults. I've done a couple of bakesales with our church to help fundraise.
